Biography Tan Sri Dato ' Lim Kok
Thay
Tan Sri Dato ' Lim Kok Thay was one successful
entrepreneur in Malaysia. He was born in 1951.
He was the second son of Tan Lim Goh Tong, founder of Genting group and
Madam Lee Kim Fa. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay is married to Puan Sri Cecilia Lim and
they have 3 children.
He holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in civil engineering from the University of London, United
Kingdom. He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business
School, Harvard University, USA in 1979.
Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay
Chairman and Chief Executive of Genting Berhad, the holding company of the
Genting group, a conglomerate involved in Hospitality, & power generation
oil palm plantations, property development, biotechnology and oil & gas. He
is the co-founder of Genting Hong Kong Limited, formerly known as Star Cruises
Limited.
Under his
guidance, the Genting group has developed activities of brands like
"Resorts World", "Crockfords", "Suite" and
"Awana", and established strategic partnerships with Universal
Studios, Hard Rock Hotel, Premium Outlets, synthetic Genomics and many others.
Genting began to evolve at the global level, particularly in the entertainment
and tourism industries.
In 2002, he was awarded
the national award titleship "Tan Sri" by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di
Pertuan Agong, for his contributions to the country. In 2009, Tan Sri Lim Kok
Thay named with "travel entrepreneur of the Year" by travel trade
Gazette (TTG) Asia) and "Asia's most influential person in gaming" by
Asian gambling, upon his contributions to recreational and tourism industry.
